Emotional Wellbeing

What is Emotional Wellbeing

Emotional wellbeing involves the recognition and acceptance of all of our thoughts and feelings, whether positive or negative.

With emotional wellbeing, we can share feelings of anger, fear, sadness, or stress; hope, joy, love and happiness in appropriate and productive ways.  We can manage and shift emotional states, we can recognize and consider the feelings of others and make appropriate responses.  We will have a clearer mind, better mood, and enhanced self-esteem.

Emotional wellbeing can help us to maintain balance and build resilience, to cope effectively through challenges and change, and to nurture relationships and friendships.

Ways to improve  Emotional Wellbeing

  • Take time to quiet your mind and reflect

  • Keep a gratitude journal

  • Share your thoughts and feelings with someone you trust, and listen to others’ emotions too

  • Take care of your body. Eat well, exercise, and sleep – your emotional & physical health are interconnected

  • Laugh! Don’t take life so seriously. Sometimes humor is the best medicine!

  • Take time in nature

  • We are our own harshest critics.  Be kind to yourself
