What is Environmental Wellbeing

Environmental wellbeing is a way of living that nurtures a healthy relationship and harmony between ourselves, our community, and the environment as a whole. It is about our ability and capacity to live, work, and study in a sanitary, safe environment with clean air and water, quality food, adequate shelter, and personal safety. Our individual wellbeing is affected by the environments we live in and we as individuals also have a significant impact on these environments. Environmental wellbeing also helps us to save money and feel good about ourselves. It is therefore important that we take initiatives to protect the earth and maintain a sustainable environment.

Ways to improve Environmental Wellbeing

  • Practise The 3R of sustainability, reduce, reuse and recycle, in our daily life

  • Participating in larger global and environmental sustainability initiatives such as reusable mugs and water bottles, recycling, reducing waste, conserving water, compositing, reducing toxic emissions, and environmental clean-up programs.

  • Whenever possible, walk or use a bicycle instead of a car

  • Donate unwanted clothing

  • Create positive, psychologically safe space

  • Allocate community space for social activities and hobbies

  • Take time to clean and organize your living and work environment

  • Turn off electronic devices to avoid distractions

  • Make use of natural light, fresh air, and live plants
